The Universal Tactical Light (UTL) was the first factory accessory available
for the USP that makes use of the universal mounting grooves on the frame of the
pistol. It runs on dual lithium batteries and is significantly brighter than most other lights of its size. It can be quickly attached or detached from the USP, and has easy to operate controls. Push to the right for momentary on and left for constant on/off. The beam is adjustable from spot to flood.Designed by ITI, the same firm that designed the laser aiming module for HK's SOCOM pistol, the UTL fits all full size variants of the USP. An optional remote cable switch, tactical carrying pouch, and universal shotgun mount are now all available, according to HK. The original UTL will not fit the Compact USPs, but a new version is being designed that is promised to be compatible with both the Compact USP and its larger brothers. It is unlikely that HK will offer any sort of upgrade deal for owners of existing models. Whether or not the UTL is worth the $250 price tag, our recommendation is to go with the superior Sure-Fire Tactical Light.
