Thank you for your inquiry.
There are no smart or dumb guns. There are only smart or dumb users.
Anything else is a mindless attempt to corner an unnecessary market and get
research funding for an idea made obsolete by personal responsibility,
accountability for actions , and training. The "smart" concept will likely
be an attempt to limit freedom, a far cry from the safety mantra being
chanted by its proponents. That is the reason why the vast majority of this
profession, including us, stays as far away from this stuff as possible.
This opinion is not shared by politicians or administrators, whos careers
and promotions rely on "making us sick" then "finding us the cure". Firearms
accidents are at an all time low and continue to fall. This is not based on
some knuckleheaded, sponsored study but by the FBI Uniform Crime Reports.
It is difficult to understand blaming a machine for the actions of an
irresponsible human.
But then, we all have our opinions.........right?
Best of luck in your future endeavors.
