First, remove the magazine and rack the slide back.
INSPECT the chamber and verify that it is clear.
Then pull the slide back until the slide release notch is lined up with
the tab on the slide release lever. Hold the gun in that position and
push the slide release lever axle in from the right side of the frame
The manual instructs that you hold the rear of the gun while
wrestling with the slide release lever,
I find that holding the front is much easier....
Your mileage will vary....: )
Then pull the slide release lever completely out.
Ease the slide forward to neutral position and decock
Continue moving the slide assembly forward until it clears
the front locking inserts on the frame.
Then remove the slide and put it, and the frame, down.
